How I Dealt with Plantar Fasciitis

In November 2012 I could not walk unaided when I got up in the morning. I had to lean on the wall for support.

Why? I had a serious case of Plantar Fasciitis.

Foot painIf you’ve had it you’ll know just how painful it can be but, in case you haven’t, let me explain:

Plantar Fasciitis is an inflammation of the tendon that links the ball of your foot with the heel. There’s no definite single cause, but some of the things that probably contribute to it include:

  1. Poorly fitting shoes
  2. Being over-weight (it can put extra stress on the foot)
  3. The ageing process (it is more common in middle-aged people)
  4. Some sports – running on hard surfaces, for example

That’s not by any means an exhaustive list – as I said, the cause is not well-understood.

For me, standing around (for example at trade fairs or sporting events) always led to serious pain – so much so that I would often have to take a taxi rather than walk 10 minutes home.

Being a typical male, I thought that if I ignored this pain the problem would eventually go away. How wrong I was..!

So what happened next?

In mid-December 2012 I met someone who introduced me to a natural anti-inflammatory product.

As I mentioned earlier, Plantar Fasciitis is an inflammation of the tendon that connects the ball of the foot to the heel so I figured that, since most mornings I could hardly walk, why not? I may as well give it a try.

How well did it work?

To cut a long story short, it worked very well.

It completely alleviated my Plantar Fasciitis pain and, because lowering inflammation is mostly achieved by boosting your body’s anti-oxidant effectiveness, my general level of health has hugely improved.

Today I hike in the hills here in Hong Kong at least 3 times a week with no pain at all, I very rarely get minor illnesses (coughs, colds, etc) and, when I do, they clear up much more quickly than before.

Basically, reducing my general level of inflammation has brought me enormous health benefits, in addition to relief from the plantar fasciitis pain.

Other steps I took

As the inflammation receded and the pain from my plantar fasciitis dropped away, I decided to take some time to learn about inflammation, what triggers it and how else to manage it.

As a result I’ve made other changes to my lifestyle that have reduced the triggers of inflammation that I take into my body.

Fruits and vegetablesThese include changing my diet to include more fruit and vegetables (and a wider variety of them), reducing my alcohol intake, being more careful about the sources of food I eat and exercising more regularly.

All these have contributed to keeping my feet pain-free, but it was the anti-inflammatory product I started taking in December 2012 that initially turned things around.

Today I am not only pain-free, I’ve lost 10 Kg (22 pounds) in weight and I’m a lot physically fitter than I was a year ago.

What is this product?

Sadly (for me!) the company that produced the original product I was using closed its operation here in Hong Kong, meaning I could no longer get hold of it.

The up-side is that, with what is now a much greater knowledge of inflammation, I’ve been able to find a replacement product – actually, a range of products.

Based on essential oils, having a range of products enables me to target different types of inflammation: inflammation from sports injuries, general low-level bodily inflammation, cellular inflammation of the skin (which underlies the ageing process) or my Plantar Fasciitis.

A 15-page guide on controlling your inflammation

In order for you and others to benefit from the work and research I’ve done, I’ve created a detailed 15-page guide on understanding and controlling inflammation: what causes it, why it gets out of control, its role in heart disease and what the medical profession is saying about it.

It goes into more detail about all the steps I’ve taken to reduce and manage inflammation and it lists (and briefly describes) the 5 anti-inflammatory products offered by doTERRA.

I can send it to you if you’re interested – just click the button in the box below, pop your name and email address into the boxes and I’ll get it off to you.

It’s never too late …

For much of my life I ignored my health (it was good – I was lucky) and I was quite happy to pop a few pills if something did go wrong. But when I discovered that my cholesterol level was out of this world (ridiculously high) I started taking those statins and other cholesterol-lowering drugs to control it.

All of which had unpleasant side-effects.

And then I discovered that I’m a carrier of CMV (Cyto Megalo Virus).

Over time these things drove me to look much more closely at natural remedies for the symptoms that modern lifestyles create: high blood pressure, stress, toxicity, high cholesterol levels and more.

As a result I’ve built up a store of knowledge about how I can take much better care of my general health in a much healthier, more natural way.

If this is of interest to you why not let me know what specific area of health you would like more information on?

To the natural elimination of your pain and your good health!

Cheers,

Martin Malden
